I am currently in my second trimester and I can’t believe that I am more than halfway through my pregnancy. This time , I will be sharing some of my maternity favs from fashion, food and must-have items. I am still working full time so this post is mainly dedicated to the needs of working mammas out there. So grab a a cuppa and read on.
If there is just one fashion item you need, it has to be (several) comfy pairs of black maternity leggings. I stumbled across ASOS design maternity one night while online shopping and was super excited to find some really affordable options . There is also a large variety of affordable organic cotton nursing and maternity dresses that can also double up as work clothes . Double thumbs up from me . TheIconic has also a vast range of maternity fashion and I grabbed some that were 30-40 % off. I love shopping with The Iconic because shipping is super fast in Australia and returns/exchanges are so easy. I wear a size S for most of my maternity clothing with some room to spare.
Stop that Nausea
In my first trimester, I had nausea and had to eat almost every 2-3 hours to get rid of morning sickness. What I find most useful is to have freshly blended juices rather than unhealthy options such as crackers or bread. I find my trusty Phillips blender perfect for blending green juices. I will usually add some spinach or kale ( great source of iron) , cucumber, dash of lemon juice, one orange, one banana and a pear. So easy, fast and nutritious. The detachable parts and blades make washing up such a breeze.
The Pregnancy Pillow
Next up is a pregnancy pillow. As my belly grows bigger, I sometimes find it hard to get comfy while sleeping or when sitting on the sofa. I decided to get an affordable pregnancy pillow that has an easy to remove zipped cover that is machine washable . That is when I discovered the Pharmedoc C Shaper Full Body Pregnancy Pillow. I was actually tossing up between the Pharmedoc vs Snoogle. I chose Pharmedcoc as it serves the same purpose, is more affordable and has easier to remove cover. I bought mine on here at AmazonAu .
Here is a range of highly rated pregnancy pillows, both C shaped and U shaped.
Preventing Stretch Marks
How do you prevent stretch marks? This is probably one of the top 10 questions among pregnant women. Unfortunately, there is no evidence based answer to that. It really depends on your skin type and genetics. However it does not hurt to apply something on your skin that is safe for use in pregnancy and for your newborn. As the belly grows, sometimes the skin can get itchy and uncomfortable. It will be a good idea to moisturize. I am currently using the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion and occasionally I will use a thin layer of the Stratamark Stretch Mark Gel . The latter was recommended by my obstetrician .
The Breast Feeding Pillow
Tenosynovitis of the wrist is so common in breastfeeding mums. I am on a mission to prevent myself getting it. I went on a hunt for a breastfeeding pillow that will hopefully provide adequate support without being too bulky. Based on reviews and recommendations from friends , I bought the My Brest Friend Pillow . I bought mine here on AmazonAu
If you are expecting or planning to be , I hope you find this post useful. I would love to hear your recommendations as well so feel free to comment down below 🙂
