I cannot believe how quickly this year has passed and we are less than a month away from Christmas! Temperatures are rising, flowers are in full bloom and this is the perfect season to get out and about. Towards the end of the year, I normally like to reflect on how I could prepare and better myself for the upcoming year , whether it be business, career related or improving morale. I am grateful for all the good things and success this year has to offer but life would be totally unreal without its fair share of challenges and shortcomings. . This blog post is about embracing the positive perspective in 3 steps and I hope it will encourage you too.
Think solutions , not problems
Problem solving is not really my forte and I am still working on it. This is something I am personally learning from people I trust , who have more life experiences to share on this matter. Sometimes I do fall into the trap of drowning in day to day challenges rather than try to swim against the current or think of ways to stay afloat. Keep calm and breathe. Seeking counsel in other people , a trusted friend , family or colleague is always so helpful. You get inspired at how other people’s minds work and if you keep an open mind yourself, it will help you hone and develop new life skills.
Live in the present , not in the past
Sometimes we look back at our lives , thinking of what we should or should not have done and then spend so much of our time regretting about it . I think to some extend it is ok to reflect if you are trying to learn from your mistakes but if you keep living in the past and filling yourself up with negative regret, it is soul- destroying. Living in the now allows you to enjoy and cherish the present good things and be thankful. When life gets peachy, enjoy it because you deserve it. Do not live in fear that it is too good to be true. It’s real.
Smile and Speak Positivity
Your mind, spirit and self esteem will thank you for it and so will the people around you. Being in the company of a negative individual is always challenging. I work in the medical industry which also involves dealing and managing mental health . The fundamentals of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which is the cornerstone for depression and anxiety management is to develop a positive mental framework and to combat negative thoughts through practical self help strategies. I think we all need a little CBT in our lives from time to time. Speaking positivity and believing it not only empowers you but also others around you.
Let me know if this post has been helpful to you and do share your ways and thoughts of how you look at life from a positive angle.
