View from our room at Shangri La Paris
June 2018. This is my very first time being in Paris and it is definitely not going to be my last. Over the last 8 years of working and studying, now is finally my chance to visit this enchanting city. This was a much needed holiday for both me and hubs and so we decided to go all out.
That is why we chose Shangri La Paris because we knew that it is one of the best hotels around the 1st Arrondissement. We booked out hotel room approximately 2 months in advance on the Shangri La Paris website and manage to get one of the last few Eiffel View rooms. Thank goodness our assumptions were right. It was the highlight of our trip and such an unforgettable Parisian experience.
Afternoon tea is served
When we first arrived, we were greeted by very hospitable hotel staff. While waiting to check in , we were served coffee , fresh fruit juice, macarons and as Shangri La Paris pride themselves – “the best chocolate in all of Paris.” Of course , I didn’t quite believe him but as soon as I tasted the smooth buttery dark chocolate, hmmm…he was telling the truth!

We first had a full guided tour of the entire hotel, where breakfast is , the restaurants- La Bauhinia and L’Abeille and the swimming pool. The first thing I checked when we arrived at our hotel room was the window. As advertised on their website ; “Unparalleled views of Paris’s most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower ” – Check! It was magnificent. We were thrilled and so was the hotel staff, when he realised that we could not wipe off the grin from our happy faces. We stayed on level 4 and our room was pretty spacious approximately 45 square metres.
We had a beautiful spread of food, fruits and sweet treats all ready for us. Macarons, pastries and a bottle of champagne already laid out on the side table. It was customary for Shangri La Paris to serve their tea for hotel guests on their first day. I loved that jasmine tea- it was delicious and fragrant.
The elegant marble bathroom was incredibly spacious. There was a separate bath and shower. The vanity was fully decked out with Bvlgari line of toiletries. It was so stunning.
When your feet hurts after hours of walking around Paris , a dip into the indoor heated pool is heavenly
Later in the evening , we head downstairs for dinner at La Bauhinia. It is a lovely restaurant serving French and South east asian fusion cuisine. I am generally quite sceptical about fusion food but the food was exceptional. One of the best dinners I had in Paris.
American Breakfast at Shangri La Paris
Because you just had to sip coffee and have breakfast by the window
Chinese breakfast
I would highly recommend booking the hotel room with breakfast at Shangri La Paris. With a view like this , you don’t really need to go anywhere. Sitting near the window and enjoying this magnificent breakfast spread was the best feeling in the world. On the second day we ordered a Chinese style breakfast just to try something different. The dimsum was amazing.

A stay at Shangri La Paris would not be complete without dinner at L’Abielle.
We simply ordered 2 mains and two glassed of wine at L’Abeille but we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food (including entree and dessert ) that accompanied our 2 mains. What a treat! Definitely not complaining at this two Michellin-Starred restaurant. We were so full that we had to take away the delicious chocolate and the waiter graciously packed it away nicely for us to take it up to our hotel room.
